Back to Basics

In this workshop we will be looking at Sun Salutations/Surya Namaskara (half salutations, Sun Salutation A and Sun Salutation B), breaking down each of the postures that compose these sequences.
 
If you are new to vinyasa yoga, this is a great place to start to get great understanding and a strong basis for your practice. If you have been practicing for a while, it is a great opportunity to dive deep and refine your physical practice.

Grounding Yin Yoga practice focusing on the lower body.

Yin yoga is a stilling practice that cultivates a deep sense of awareness through the release of mind and body stresses.

An antidote to urban life, Yin Yoga focuses on releasing the connective tissue of the body (tendons, ligaments and fascia). It is an introspective practice where poses are held for long periods, allowing the student to relax and release into stillness.

In this workshop we'll be breaking down arm balances such as crow, side crow, one legged crow, flying pigeon and flying splits.
 
We will be breaking them down in small building blocks so you can work at your own pace and level, helping you create the necessary strength, flexibility and stability to tackle these postures.

This creative vinyasa flow will have you moving the body in wonderfully different ways to empower your mind and body. Using Kim's knowledge as a personal trainer, movement coach and yoga teacher this flow focusses on adaptability of the mind and body. In particularly how we can influence our hip mobility, perfect for anti desking! Expect to move 360 around the mat as well a laugh and play whilst exploring your body in movement.

Whether you're a yogi, gym goer, climber, avid runner or any sport in between, the likelihood is that you're going to want your hips, knees, ankles and feet to play the game!

Join us in this workshop as we bring together knowledge from Kim's PT, movement and yoga background. We'll explore flexibility, mobility and mindfulness practices to help you bulletproof your lower body so you can do what you love for longer.

Class will consist of:
- A 45 minute anatomy tutorial including the hows and why's behind what we're doing.
- Then put what we've learned into practice with a juicy 60 minute movement flow focusing on the lower body.
- 15 min Q&A's to wrap up our session

Vinyasa, which in Sanskrit means to place with awareness, is also used to describe breath linked with movement. We will move through dynamic practices based on the Ashtanga & Rocket sequence with opportunities to be playful upside down with options available to all levels.

About Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a stilling practice that cultivates a deep sense of awareness through the release of mind and body stresses.

In this practice postures are held for a longer period time, 3 or 5 minutes or sometimes even longer, and you will meet the intensity of a stretch to help you to foster a deep, pervading sense of calm. Staying in the poses for this extended time intensifies and deepens the stretch, which is supported by props to prevent overstretching, and creates a feeling of spaciousness in the body. Becoming still in a pose and staying with the stillness gives you the time and space to allow sensations and feelings to arise, which can help to balance and calm the mind. Yin yoga also helps you increase mobility and flexibility, as well as work deeply into the connective tissues of the body.

Dive deep into our CORE with this fun fuelled creative vinyasa flow. Often core stability is the weak chain of the body. Our core (front and back of the trunk) effects every other movement in the body. We need to be able to anticipate and adapt to change from external forces to allow our bodies to move our extremities safely.

Come play with this concept in class with me this week! Classes are inspired by functional sequences and the mechanics of movement. Expect to move in a way that’s challenging but fun, transitioning between poses mindfully and to the beat, while getting your flow on. You’ll leave the mat feeling accomplished, happy and zen. Suitable for all levels.
